Liquid Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry / Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS/MS) |
Device Brand and Model |
SHIMADZU - 8040 |
General Information |
LC / MS, HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) and MS (Mass Spectrometer) units are a device used to determine the content of the structure and the amount of the substances in the content by operating together. In the high performance liquid chromatography system, samples are analyzed by mass detector according to their physicochemical properties. Molecules ionize at the ionization source and pass to the mass spectrometer. The major ions formed in the first mass spectrometer are determined according to the m/z (mass/charge) ratio. This ion is broken down by collision gas (Nitrogen) in the collision cell and the ions formed as a result of the fragmentation are separated according to m/z (mass/charge) ratios in the second mass spectrometer. It is used for the quantitation of trace amounts of analytes in the determination of multiple analytes with high sensitivity and precision, with data on fragmentation ions. |
Sample Preparation |
Preparation of homogenized samples is made with Quechers kits. |

High Pressure (Performance) Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) |
Device Brand and Model |
SHİMADZU & Prominence LC-20A |
General Information |
High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is a special application of liquid chromatography method. As a result of reducing the particle size of the fillers used as stationary phase, the surface area of the stationary phase interacting with the mobile phase is increased. Thus, the efficiency of the column is increased.. Pressure must be applied in order for the mobile phase to pass through column at a certain speed. HPLC is considered an indispensable tool in many fields today. The device is used to separate and identify species in a variety of organic, inorganic and biological samples. and is used to separate and identify species in various organic, inorganic and biological samples. |
Sample Preparation |
The sample to be analyzed in the HPLC device must be brought into liquid form. Samples' preparation varies according to the analysis to be made on the device. Samples are firstly pre-treated using organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, cloroform, acetonitrile. After the preliminary processes are completed and the samples turned into liquid form are filtered, analysis is performed on the device |

Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) |
Device Brand and Model |
SHIMADZU – QP 2010 |
General Information |
GC-MS is the device used for determination and structure analysis of the substances separated in the gas chromatography column. While GC separates and ionizes the gases in the mixture from each other, MS determines these substances depending on their mass. There is also a flame ionization detector (FID) integrated into this system. GC / MS consists of five parts: injection unit, column, detector, column oven and auto sampler. |
